Hobsbawm
I’ve just closed the fourth book in Eric Hobsbawm’s histories of “the long 19th century” and “the short 20th century.”
The books are, in a word, extraordinary.
Ten years ago, I would have grabbed the books, sat down at a table, and begun sketching out a structure for how to interpret today’s world in the context of Hobsbawm’s series.
But, I am tired, and I have too much shit to do.
Maybe a project for the future, when free time is in the ascendant.
